Lust Worthy Laundry Rooms

I have developed a ridiculous habit while we’ve been at the beach. It goes a little something like this…

…we don’t have a washing machine or dryer in our apartment. This is not an unusual thing in the city- frankly we’re lucky to have a nice laundry room on the first floor of our building and not have to lug our clothes to a laundromat. But I’d be lying if I said I didn’t dream about the day we finally have our own washer/dryer. In fact, lately I’ve been dreaming about the WHOLE laundry room. I know, cue the lame-ness. It’s not that I love doing laundry, I just love fresh, clean, warm laundry. The day we wash our sheets I can’t wait to get into bed, and if I happen to shower when the towels are still warm… don’t even get me started! So, since the washing machine happens to be right next to the bathroom in our beach rental, everyday, a few minutes before I get in the shower, I heat up my towel. Then, after I get out, I get to wrap myself in a warm, fluffy towel. Everyday. Everyday, people! It’s the best.

Now that it’s become clear I’m truly insane, I’ll just wallow in these dreamy photos of other people’s laundry rooms. Oh Pinterest, I heart you.

You’re not insane. You’re a real New Yorker. These laundry rooms clearly exist in some utopian universe, in the kinds of homes that probably also feature luxurious amenities like backyards and kitchen countertop space. My husband and I have been known to look longingly at washer/dryer combos at Home Depot, sometimes muttering to them softly while rubbing their shiny chrome–”Someday, sweetheart… we will have a real house for you to come home to….”

  2. How funny- I have a Pinterest board dedicated to Laundry! I live in the midwest, so it’s pretty common to have a washer/dryer. My husband and I currently live in an apartment, and it’s down in the basement instead of IN our apartment- oh how I had to beg to move in there! Walking down stairs was almost a deal breaker. We’re lucky!

I’m finally in my first apartment with a washer/dryer in unit and I know the day I may have to go back will be a very hard day. Love this post :)

  5. I totally lust after laundry rooms too. I had a washer/dryer in my previous apartment, but no longer! My apartment complex shares a laundry room and it does the trick most of the time. But other times, I genuinely miss having a washer/dryer in my apartment. And I never have enough quarters to do laundry now….

    • Ugh the quarters! The absolute worst! We actually go to the bank and get like $100 worth at a time…. so crazy.

I dream of having a folding counter in my future laundry room! Can you imagine? I’m also with you on the freshly laundered sheets. I spritz some eucalyptus spearmint pillow spray from Bath & Body Works on my pillows and sheets, and it is divine!

  9. You really need a clothes rod near the washer/dryer to hang clothes as they come out of the dryer, or to hand damp/dry items. I always wonder if the owners of laundry rooms above roll in a special clothes rack just to do laundry…why not install it and show it. Is it like lamp cords…photoshopped out?

Wonderful laundry rooms. I love the long one with the folding counter in the center. I like my laundry room too. It’s on the top floor of our home where the bedrooms are. xo
