In stark contrast to last week’s metallics, today’s setting relies on the spices of the season. From the nutmeg placemats to cinnamon stick napkin holders, earthy elements are key. A lot of holiday gatherings tend toward excess, but I find this subtle approach just as beautiful. While I wait for my holiday spirit to fully kick in (please tell me I’m not the only one!), I plan to blast Christmas carols and embrace the season’s flavors- in the form of mulled wine and cinnamon rolls, of course.

Not to worry! Christmas in France sounds perfect
So many pretties! I love all of the different textures like the wooden plate, napkin, and ceramic vase!
I think it was Ina that put together a simple ‘Della Robia’ style Christmas/Holiday table piece on one of her recent holiday shows (it may have been the show on cocktails, where the bartender created the ‘Barefoot Contessa’ cocktail in her honor). She put long, narrow branches of soft pine and fir down the center of the table ( will add fresh holly with bright red berries since I have holly in my yard!) and interspersed the greenery with fresh clementines, pomegranates, chestnuts, and other seasonal and colorful fruits and nuts. It looked so festive, AND you could add low, white candles if you are not afraid of the greenery catching fire!
