Last week I participated in a little article and photo shoot for Ladies Home Journal. Believe me, it was a very minor thing! But nonetheless, it was still fun to break up my day with something new, and have my hair and makeup done. I’m not a big makeup person, so aside from the light day to day stuff, I rarely get all done up. The makeup wasn’t as noticeable during the shoot but once I came home it was much more apparent. I couldn’t help but snap a few photos to capture how different I looked (and felt)! Can someone please do this for me every day?
Beyond the photos, they interviewed me briefly for the article. We’re talking serious questions here folks, like what’s your guilty pleasure? What’s the best part of summer? Ok, some of them were a bit more serious, but I thought it would be fun to share a few of my responses here. I have no idea which answer they’ll choose for the actual piece, but I’ll be sure to keep you posted!
What’s your guilty pleasure? Reality TV- specifically the Real Housewives of any city but Atlanta. But my true love is Bethenny. Her new season just started, and settling into the couch to watch her show is my favorite thing after a long day.
What’s the craziest thing you and your friends ever did? I am by no means crazy when it comes to outings with friends, but this summer when we were in Vietnam, I did hop on the back of a motorbike for several days, exploring the countryside and beaches of the country. Granted, it was Brandon and his friends who made the arrangements, but I still participated!
What makes you feel strong? Lately, taking risks. I only realized that during the interview, but I’m glad I did. I recognized that with each step forward I take with my business, that goes smoothly, I feel even more excited and confident about my venture. It makes me want to take even more risks!
What’s the best part of summer? The food, naturally! I’m dying for fresh tomatoes, corn, and berries.
What makes a good friend? Gettin’ deep here! Ha, no, but really, I do have a legitimate answer for this one. Over the years I’ve come to find one of the most important qualities in a friend is being non-judgmental; someone who doesn’t pass judgement on you as a person. That doesn’t mean not providing constructive feedback in certain situations, it simply means letting the other person be who they really are. The truth is, I can be somewhat quick to judge (something I’m constantly working on), so I truly admire and appreciate my friends who never pass judgement on me, no matter what the issue.
Well, what do you think?? What would your responses be? I’d love to hear!
OMG!!! Your answer for quilty pleasures would be the same as mine! LOVE love love the real housewives franchise AND bethenney.
Love that! They’re so addictive and kind of terrible, but I can’t help it!
Hmph, minor thing…this is *awesome* and you know how excited for and proud of you I am!
My only regret is that we didn’t have enough crazy stories from college and abroad to compete with the Vietnam adventure…
I like your reply about friendship. I’d add that it goes both ways. I start to get annoyed if I’m doing all the keeping up and not getting a lot back. Guilty pleasure? French fries. Craziest thing done? going to Paris on the spur of the moment (and calling in sick from there!). Best part of summer? No work! (I’m a teacher). Food too, of course!
Yes, totally agree with that point on friendships too- it’s really not worth it when you’re the only one putting in all the effort. I’m so impressed by your spur of the moment trip to Paris- I need to do that!
