I don’t know about you guys, but New York has been under a dull gray sky for what seems like forever. The weather, coupled with being holed up in my apartment for days had left me feeling pretty… meh. Does that ever happen to you?
Even though is was raining and cold out last night, I forced myself out of my apartment and went to meet one of oldest friends (I realized yesterday, we’ve been friends for 18 years!) for dinner. Once we sat down, had some delicious appetizers and started chatting, it was like everything dull washed away and my mood totally brightened.
Just getting out and seeing a friend made all the difference, which I’ve decided is the best antidote for fighting the winter blues. What’s your method? We’ve got a few more weeks of winter left, so I need all the tips I can get!

Yup, lots of ‘meh’ here in Chicago too. We’ve had a mild winter so I feel like a spoiled brat for complaining, but seriously February is one LONG month.
Running or walking outside helps me even when the skies are grey.
Champagne! Right about now I’m over red wine. Or maybe try a mai tai– close your eyes and imagine you’re sitting on the beach in Hawaii.
Make a board on Pinterest of blue skies and sunny destinations–a virtual vacation if you will.
Wow, such creative ideas! I agree with the running/exercise, I really slacked on that this week so that might have something to do with my mood…
I think yours is the best solution… failing that, I buy a spring bouquet of flowers, turn all the lights on and play some awesome, happy music!
I never buy flowers, and I don’t know why! Need to change that.
We’ve had what seems like weeks of dreary skies also. A mild winter for us, but still overcast and blah.
I force myself to get out and hike or walk with the dogs, breath in the fresh air, and dream about what I’m going to do in my yard in the spring!

Aaaah a dog! A puppy is on my spring to do list, and actually a patio garden is too! I bet you have a gorgeous yard, April.
