One of my favorite things is going to the farmer’s market in the spring, and buying whatever vegetables catch my eye. I love my farmers market, but I imagine the ones in Paris would be even more amazing. Isn’t everything more amazing in Paris?
The inspiration for this post was the striped tablecloth, below. I found myself near Philadelphia this weekend, and couldn’t resist stopping by the Terrain store — It’s been on my list for years! As I’m sure you can tell by their website, the store was just gorgeous, and I especially loved that tablecloth in person. I can just imagine it sitting on a table in a tiny French kitchen — the perfect backdrop for tartines and wine, don’t you think?

I love that napkin. You’re right–it reminds me of the French countryside!
The napkins are new? They look so vintage and ‘retro’, both with the colors and graphics. I love everything ‘France’ and ‘French’ and after using my first ‘French’ rolling pin I swore to never go back to a conventional ‘American’ pin . . . the French pins are just so much easier to use. Lavender is taking up much more space in my ‘secret garden’ this year. I built a ‘folly’ using ancient stones salvaged from the ruins of an old church. They came complete with moss and even a few friendly lizards!
Cynthia, love this story about the French pin; and I share your enthusiasm!!
I love the white&blue linens…so French!
I’d like all of this please! Plus, now I’m hankering to visit a French market.
Dear CC readers who love all things French,
in the place where I live and work, it’s a vacation time right now, and I’m feeling privileged indeed to be able to go to the South of France and see a real-life French market; it’s the asparagus season in all its colors: green, violet and white. I’m experiencing it through my stomach right now…
Yes, yes, the napkins are so French. But the most exciting thing to me are the figs and the goat cheese: simple and sublime!! Life can not be better if you add the baguette to it.
Have a great week and all the best!!!
PS. While travelling, I read David Lebovitz’ book ”The sweet life in Paris”. I read his blog and he talks about Parision markets… it’s so much fun, and it makes a nice break in my hectic work hours.
La Torontoise, your enthusiasm and love of life are delightful and contagious! I would give anything to meet you! You make all of us ‘homesick’ for France . . . and most of us have yet to even GO there!
I am ordering a copy of Lebovitz’ book to take to the beach in May! What a great ‘summer read’ it will be!
